Want to brush up on forgotten skills or start from scratch? I have taught hundreds of people of all ages to sew. I have over 10 years teaching experience and would love to help you get into it! I teach hand sewing basics and getting started on your sewing machine. I try to make it less scary!

Amy Brown is a fabric sculptor, best known as the creator of Jumbo Jibbles.
She has over 10 years experience teaching learners of all ages in sewing, design, needle felting and general silliness. She believes that sewing is for everyone who wears clothes (and even for those who don't-- hello dogs, you need toys, too.)

Come in for a single private lesson to get started on your new sewing machine or brush up on skills long unused, set up weekly sessions to get better at a new skill or bring a group of friends for a themed activity.
I have a beautiful studio in San Jose with sewing machines, a serger, large cutting table and space for 6-8 students. This is a great way to figure out if you would like to invest in a sewing machine of your own with no pressure.

Beginner hand sewing and machine sewing lessons are set up to accommodate beginners and take you through the skills needed to set out on your own. If you already own your own sewing machine, there is a special class to go over every inch of your machine, all its functions and accessories, called New Sewing Machine - HELP! Once you have completed the beginner course, you can choose the Project Consultation where we work together to create lessons based on your skill level and interests.

Lab Time is for renting time on my machines - this is only for people who are already adept at the specific machine they would like to use in my studio. If you want to use one but don't know how, you will need to take a lesson first. Lab time is only for the machine use-- not for instruction or coaching.

Don't care about the price and just wanna get started NOW? Choose Don't Care How, I Want It NOW! to go Beast Mode and get directly into whatever it is that's been in your head. You can come in with no knowledge whatsoever and a bunch of fabric and we'll just get going. I will talk to you before the class to assess what it is you want to make and ensure you've got the directions for buying the appropriate materials. For those who want things fast and easy (but no cheap).
House calls available for a traveling fee, depending on location.
