Learn the parts of the machine and basic sewing functions. You do not have to own a sewing machine for this lesson. Bring one you already have, or use one of mine to get used to the functions. The one hour course will go over the basic functions of a sewing machine and get you acquainted with using it properly. You can add on to your lesson with an extra hour of instruction in the various machine accessories your machine came with (for those who have a new machine) or add a project like a tote bag, zipper pouch or drawstring bag. You may also add an extra hour of Machine Accessories tutorial or a Project Consultation. PROJECT CONSULTATION - If you chose this add-on, this is for those with an idea they want to make. You will need to bring your own materials. You may also use this time to get help finding a pattern or coming up with a game plan for how to get started on your own idea. If you are bringing your own machine, please remember to bring the power cord and foot pedal. If you have the manual it came with and the accessories, please bring all of that too. Learning how to thread a needle and tie a knot is daunting to some people, but with just a few tips I will have you fearlessly sewing buttons back on your favorite shirt. Learn three stitches that will get you through most projects and come out with a darling pincushion you can take home to start you new sewing adventure! The 1-hour class includes basic sewing skills and a pincushion (made by you) to take home. The 2-hour class also includes the pincushion project, plus basic embroidery stitches and buttons. You may choose to bring 1 or 2 items of your own that need mending. If there is a specific technique you need to learn, please let me know beforehand and any of the mentioned skills can be swapped out for that (within reason).
