Finish your first clothing project! The Shirt No. 1 pattern from 100 Acts of Sewing (a Bay Area designer) is a perfect beginner project. This project accommodates adult sizes XS-5XL, or bust measurements 32" to 56". This project should take 2.5-3 hours. Student needs to bring a woven cotton fabric (think the kind of fabric your bedsheets are made from, nothing silky or stretchy). The amount you need depends on size: XS: 1 1/2 yards (1.4 m) S-M: 1 1/2 yards (1.4 m) L-XL: 1 3/4 yards (1.6 m) 2X-3X: 1 3/4 yards (1.6 m) 4X: 1 3/4 yards (1.6 m) 5X: 2 yards (1.8 m) Type: light weight cotton lawn or voile, linen, rayon or natural fiber blend You will also want to buy fat quarters or half yard (0.5 meter) of contrasting fabric for bias tape. You may also buy ready-made bias tape. We will go over how to cut out a pattern, joining seams, hemming and adding bias binding to the neckline. Only one fabric is necessary, but if you want to do a two-color shirt (front different from back) or try a simple patchwork (shown in photo) make sure to have at least half of the total yardage for your size in each color. This project may be added onto a Beginner Machine lesson, or taken after you've completed that lesson. For a small price I can provide the fabric.
Cancellation Policy
To cancel or reschedule, please contact me before 10pm the night before your session. Cancellations day-of get a 50% refund. No-shows do not get refunds. Student (or guardian if student is under 18) takes all responsibility for any injury incurred while learning to sew from Amy Brown (Jumbo Jibbles) at her studio at 1068 The Alameda, San Jose, CA, 95126 or in the student/client’s home. Activities include using hand tools, sewing machines, needles and other art tools. This contract covers previous lessons and all lessons happening from the date of first scheduled class session. Photos may be taken during class for marketing purposes. By completing this class booking, you are agreeing to these terms.
