Stuffed Animal Hospital (take two)

Tomorrow is the 2nd annual Stuffed Animal Hospital at the Jumbo JIbbles Studio. Why? Because I want to!

Did you know you can just do things? If you don't worry about them being successful or viral, you can do just about anything. Divorcing your ideas from the idea of productivity does wonders for the weird things you can just do without permission. How many people showed up last year? Less than 10! But I am gonna do it again even if there's just one!

I got a little spot on the radio today on KCBS:

STUFFIE HOSPITAL-1 mgo

I'll help you fix a broken stuffed toy, and if I can't get it done that day, I'll show you some techniques to do it on your own. I've got a table set up with needle, threads, even extra safety eyes. Need a little more stuffing? I got that too. Endless stuffing transfusions at Jumbo Jibbles. Don't worry about the cost-- we've got universal healthbear.

I'll be excepting new patients from 12pm-3pm tomorrow, Saturday March 14th. The Alameda Artworks is a lovely old roller skating rink that now houses people like me, making things and asking you please please come look at them. We're behind the Recycle Bookstore, follow the big blue mural of kids riding bikes until you see the red door. Come inside! You can park wherever.

Now, don't be like the person last year who came in, dropped of a stuffie that was more rips than seams and just leave. My jaw was wide open-- WE'RE HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS. You must stay with the patient-- they need the support!

With just a needle and thread, you can fix most things. Like the the above-mentioned success and productivity, if you can forget about that and just make it WORK, you can do a lot. Some people will sew really well, and some will just barely make sure the two pieces they sewed together don't fall apart. There's a heap of good just in the trying.

But if you do want to be a little better than a stapled hem (no judgment) you can book a beginner sewing lesson with me.
